Manuel Antonio Beach
Near Quepos is Manuel Antonio National Park which is the Costa Rica’s smallest national park at just over 683 hectares and is one of Costa Rica’s first ecotourism destinations. Cathedral Point with its forest topped cliffs is connected to the mainland by a thin land bridge which separates the Park’s two most popular beaches, Playa Espadilla Sur and Playa Manuel Antonio. Playa Manuel Antonio is one of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica with perfect crescents of sand accentuated by the ultramarine blue Pacific Ocean. The Park and beach abound with wildlife and in a day’s visit it is possible to see iguanas, monkeys, sloth, armadillos and raccoons. Within the Park, you'll also encounter several other beautiful beaches.
Jaco Beach
Extending for miles from north to south, Jaco beach is an elegant, sweeping curve of sand and is the town's main attraction. The sand stretches from the northern end to the more secluded south, with majestic cliffs at both extremities. The beach is a well known surfing spot and opportunities from diving, snorkelling, boogie boarding and kayaking amongst others can be found nearby. Lining the beach is a range of shops and restaurants.
Tamerindo Beach
Tamerindo beaches are exceptionally beautiful with long sandy bays and amazing sunsets. Surfing and windsurfing conditions here are near perfect for the experienced as well as novice surfers. Besides surfing, swimming, snorkelling, sailing, kayaking, jet skiing, boogie boarding, and scuba diving – there is the Marino Las Baulas National Park, where leatherback turtles arrive every summer to nest and breed. Tamarindo beach is, however, large enough to cater for those who just want to relax in the peace and quiet.
