Experience Nature Like Never Before
The only jaguar preserve in the world, Cockscomb Basin Sanctuary covers 240 square kilometres of rainforest in the Maya Mountains. This preserve is home to more than just the mysterious jaguar; Margay, peccary, otter, howler monkeys, brocket deer, gibnut and coatimundi also inhabit the area. In addition, Cockscomb Basin Sactuary boasts some of the finest birds in the world with hundreds of exotic species inhabiting the dense jungle canopy.
What makes Cockscomb so special is that there is more to do here than just observe the flora and fauna. You can hike numerous trails that meander through the majestic green slopes. Discover a water fall and take a dip in a secluded swimming hole or rent an inner tube and float down the Sittee River.
Arrange a tour that takes you to a local Mayan village before leading you deep into the jungle. Stay overnight in one of several campsites or hire a guide and take a once-in-a-lifetime trek to the top of Victoria Peak, the highest point in Belize.
