Belize's Hot Spot
Ambergris Caye (pronounced 'key') is the largest island in Belize and, thanks to its sandy beaches and excellent snorkeling, has been the region's most popular destination for visitors for many years.
Ambergris is known for its lively social calender with some of the highlights being Mardi Gras, Belize Independance Day and the San Pedro Lobster Festival. In fact even when it's not a special event the town of San Pedro has more than enough bars, restaurants, shops and nightclubs to suit cater for any tastes.
For those wishing to explore the local waters Ambergris is a great starting point with plenty of expeditions available to sites such as the Great Blue Hole, Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Belize Barrier Reef.
