The only jaguar preserve in the world, Cockscomb Basin Sactuary covers 240 square kilometres of rainforest in the Maya Mountains. the preserve is home to more than just the mysterious jaguar. Margay, peccary, otter, howler monkeys, brocket deer, gibnut and coatimundi inhabit the area. In addition, Cockscomb Basin Sactuary boasts some of the finest birds in the world, with hundredsof exotic species inhabiting the dense jungle canopy.

What makes Cockscomb special is that there is more to do here than just observe the flora and fauna. You can hike numerous trails that meander through the majestic green slopes. Discover a water fall! Take a dip in a secluded swimming hole! Rent an inner tube and float down the Sittee River.

Arrange a tour that takes you to a local Mayan village before leading you deep into the jungle. Stay overnight in one of several campsites. Or hire a guide and take a once-in-a-lifetime trek to the top of Victoria Peak, the highest point in Belize.
