The beach is shingly but the setting is simply spectacular. Here you can leisurely walk along this gorgeous beach and take in the breathtaking views all around.
It is said that here the goddess Aprhodite rose from a gentle foam wave and this has caused many a poet and writer to visit here to get inspiration. The most famous of which resulted in being Boticelli's Birth of Venus.
There are two large rocks in view from the beach in the sea set against the white cliffs above and the turquoise of the Mediterranean below. The Greek name of the rock is "Petra tou Romiou" translated as "Rock of the Greek". This is associated with the legendary Byzantian frontier-guard, Digenis Akritas. It is said that here he kept the Arab pirates at bay by throwing two rocks at them from the hillside above.
A day spent here is like a day spent in paradise.
