However, the most important church of all is that of the Virgin Katapoliani on the northern outskirts of Parikia. It is one of the oldest early Christian basilicae in Greece. In the restoration of this monument it became apparent that this large church dedicated to the Virgin Mary was built at the end of the 4th century.
