On these islands the edcuation system is a lot different to what we are used to in the United Kingdom. There are no full time International schools on the islands and children must attend a Greek school or be tutored at home.
Primary schools, Secondary schools and Colleges are all widely available but you must be able to speak Greek otherwise you will acheive not good enough results to further your education. The school hours on the islands are 08.15 - 14.00, all schools will close for the afternoon.
It is recommended that if you wish for a permenant move to one of the islands with your family, you relocate at your earliest convenience, as the younger you start in the Greek education system the better the chance of you succeeding in your chosen subjects.
For further education in Universities you may need to travel to one of the large cities in Greece, with the main uinversity being in Athens. However, one is at present being developed in Crete and is opening very soon indeed.
