They are only a 5-minute drive to the popular sandy beach of Plakias where you will discover a fishing port with many surrounding shops, tavernas, supermarkets and hotels. From Plakias there is a regular bus service to Rethymno and you are only a 10-minute drive from the Preveli monastery and the famous palm beach of Preveli.
A 30 minute-drive from Lefkogia will take you to the former fishing village of Agia Galini which is located in a sheltered bay and has a tranquil atmopshere. You can stroll through the cobbled alleyways between traditional houses with a view of the sea and find many tavernas snuggled between the water and cliffs where you can sit and watch the world go by.
