San Miguel is a quiet town with the old part having narrow streets and some cave houses. The new town has Banks, Chemists and all manner of shops in the high street. The town Market is on a Wednesday morning, it has everything Imaginable from shoe's to olives.

San Miguel de Salinas refers to the salt lakes to the north east which change to a pink colour as the sun reflects on them. They are a nature reserve and attract beautiful Flamingo's and many other birds. San Miguel usually has a lively Fiesta the last two weeks of August. San Miguel is ideally located for both Alicante airport and Murcia airport, Alicante is about 40 minutes drive away and Murcia 25 minutes drive
