Gumusluk

Gumusluk (pronounced Goo-moosh-look) is set on the opposite side of the Bodrum peninsula and is amidst a vast amount of tangerine groves. This is approximately 20 minutes away by car or local minibus from the centre of Bodrum. This village is still a lively fishing port and has a large amount of fish restaurants along the sea front, displaying a wide variety of freshly caught seafood.

This area was once the home of the ancient city of Myndos and due to this is now deemed a conservation area, so no cars are allowed in the centre of the village. The far westerly point here is renowned for its stunning sunsets and scenery and from here there is a tiny sheltered island called Tavsan, translated as Rabbit Island. From here it is possible to walk to Gumusluk via the small causeway of stones that were built in the Hellenistic times, although this is only possible when the tide is out!
