Belize is located on the Western edge of the Caribbean in Central America and borders Mexico to the North, Guatemala to the West and Honduras to the South. Formerly known as The British Honduras, Belize gained independence in 1981, but is still the only English speaking nation in Central America.

Belize has one of the lowest population densities in the world, with less than 300,000 people in an area roughly the size of Massachusetts. This means the country has remained largely unspoiled and offers some amazing scenery and areas of breathtaking natural beauty.

Belize enjoys a tropical climate, with rainy and dry seasons and year round warmth that rarely drops below 70 degrees Farenheit, due to its expanses of Rain Forest which is home to nature reserves, Mayan ruins, waterfalls and a huge network of caves.

The World's second largest Coral Reef also runs the 185 mile length of Belize's coast and is home to the 'Great Blue Hole', a sinkhole formed of collapsed underwater caves that is over 400 meters deep and was named as one of the top 10 scuba diving destinations in the world.
