If there is one Cypriot beach you visit then make sure it is this one. The beach itself is beautiful and simply takes the breath away. Fig Tree Bay was much of the reason for the development of Protaras.
This is the most popular beach on the island and is a firm favourite with the locals of Cyprus. The beach is marked with a fig tree and according to local legend, was brought to the island by invaders in the 17th Century and has been there ever since.
The golden soft sands are gently lapped by the beautiful crystal clear blue waters of the Mediterranean. This is perfect for all walks of life, from divers and water sport enthusiasts to children who can play in the clear shallow waters.
There is a small island a few hundred metres from the beach, which many people love to explore. Those who are brave enough to venture there should take shoes due to the island being made up of some very sharp rocks. However, once you are there the views are simply stunning and really have to be seen to be believed.
Fig Tree Bay also has numerous water sports facilities and cafes along its shoreline.
