The third largest island in the Mediterranean, Cyprus is relaxingly washed by inky blue waters and warmed by the rays of the Mediterranean sun.
The island is situated in the Eastern Mediterranean off the southern coast of Turkey and the western shores of Syria the crossroads of the three continents. Its location has shaped the island history over thousands of years, with almost every great empire having a bearing on life in Cyprus. The Ottomans, the Byzantines and the Venetians have all left their mark on an island already awash with Ancient Greek and Roman influence.
Cyprus is easily accessible with two international airports being based at Larnaca and Paphos. English is widely spoken and all road signs are both in Greek and English. As in the UK, driving is on the left-hand side of the road.
