The national currency is the Belize Dollar ($BZ), the currency is tied to the US Dollar ($US) and the exchange rate is approximately $4BZ to £1, many shops and businesses in Belize will also except US currency and travelers cheques.
Currency can be exchanged in most banks, hotels and travel agencies and most major credit cards will be accepted, though it is recommended you check with your card company before you travel. It should also be noted that most ATMs in Belize do not accept foreign cards.
No visa is required for entry to Belize by EU member citizens, though your passport must be valid for at least six weeks after your arrival in the country.
